Loy Yang Power
One of the most prominent employers in the Latrobe region and an international leader in the energy industry, Loy Yang Power is also one of our valued host employers.
Every year, Loy Yang Power offers work opportunities to many GGT/AV apprentices and trainees, in a diverse range of trades. Loy Yang's active interest in supporting Australian apprenticeships is a vital contribution to the economic development of the Gippsland community.
Government Contracts
GGT/AV has a long and healthy association with Australian governments at every level. The State and Federal governments jointly fund our organisation, as a group training organisation, registered training organisation and Australian Apprenticeships Centre, which in turn allows us to pass on some of these savings to apprentices and employers in the form of free training and discounted rates. We take careful note of the policies and strategic directions of the Australian government, and aim where possible to develop education and training programs that complement and align with these initiatives. Through our connection with the Australian Government, as an Australian Apprenticeships Centre, we are kept informed of new development in the training sector, and our accreditation as an RTO allows us to remain at the forefront of industry-driven training. We are also partners with many local government bodies and shire councils in regional Victoria.
Australian Apprenticeships Support Services Contract
June 2006 – June 2009
This is a contract with the Australian Government which authorises GGT/AV to deliver Australian Apprenticeships services to the public. The AASS Contract is a multi-million dollar agreement, against which we are regularly audited. GGT/AV was successful in re-tendering for the contract in June 2006 after 7 years in operation as an AAC.

Job Placement License
GGT/AV is registered by the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR) as a Job Placement organisation. This important service involves linking employers with prospective Job Seekers through the Australian Job Search Website, and providing recruitment assistance and advice to employers. The Job Placement License is important to our business because it provides an avenue by which we can assist ANY employer or Job Seeker, regardless of their trade or circumstances. It also helps us to secure employment for those applicants to our Group Training organisation that we cannot immediately offer a position to.

ATTP/PETP Contracts
Renewed annuallyAll Registered Training Organisations in Victoria must submit regular tenders to the State Government to receive funding to continue to deliver training programs within their scope of registration. The Office of Training and Tertiary Education is responsible for allocating funded training 'places' to RTOs each year.
GGT/AV has been allocated additional training places in 2007, but we have the capacity to deliver much more training than this. We are continually seeking to increase the number of funded training places we are offered. With a new training centre opened in Churchill in 2006, and another in East Gippsland (Bairnsdale) now fully operational, our company has the size and scope to train as many trade apprentices as the government requires, and our resources, personnel and track record mean we can do so at minimal risk. Our commitment to the regions we serve has meant that in the past when we have not been allocated enough funding, we have continued to train apprentices at our own cost.
